Muang Kaew Golf Club
Muang Kaew Golf Club is near to central Bangkok and the newer Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Noted for its paspalum grass fairways and Tiff Eagle turf greens, its proximity to the airport makes a very popular option for those short on time or on a long layover, since the club is just a 20 to 30-minute drive along the Bangna-Trad Highway.
Established back in 1992 by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, Muang Kaew is a little over 7,000 yards and plays well all year. A challenging course with deep bunkers and fast elevated greens (10.5 – 11.5 feet as measured on the stimpmeter), though also offering generous fairways, Muang Kew Golf Club is walkable and well maintained (up to Western standards).
While there is no driving range at Muang Kaew Golf Club, it has a chipping area and putting greens with a bunker. The aged clubhouse features locker rooms and pro shop with both men’s and women’s gear, while the restaurant does excellent dishes, including an American breakfast. Also on site is a swimming pool and spa with massage.
The club’s nearness to Suvarnabhumi Airport is a plus, bearing in mind the course is bisected by the Bangkok outer ring road, but it is nice and close to major airport hotels. Attractions of note within reach of Muang Kaew are the Ancient City and Crocodile Farm, both about a 30-minute drive.
