For those of you that love the ocean Thailand has some magnificent waters to explore. The main boating destinations are Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi and Koh Samui. Here you will find a rich selection of things to do, from snorkeling, to sunbathing with a chilled glass of wine as your cruise sedately past the limestone cliffs towering above you. Thailand is a great holiday destination, boasting year-round sunny weather, dazzling beaches and clear water, yet its beach resorts are also very busy. Avoiding the main beach crowds is achieved most effectively by yacht charter. More and more operations are springing up and there are now lots of marinas in Phuket, Samui and Pattaya.
Phuket is Thailand’s top island destination, situated as it is on the beautiful Andaman Sea where there are many tropical island escapes. It has an international airport, numerous high end hotel resorts and, most importantly, good quality marinas. The offshore Similan Islands is a favoured destination for divers to Phuket, with some of the best snorkeling of anywhere and absolutely stunning beaches.
There are also lesser visited islands closer to Phuket, including Koh Hon and Koh He in the south, while the beautiful Phang Nga Bay features idyllic islets and beaches to include the world famous James Bond Island (Koh Tapu). Along with clear water and white beaches, this region is noted for its limestone karsts, coral reefs, mangrove forests, ancient fishing villages and pearl farms.
Nearby Krabi Province is also accessible by Phuket yacht charters, with the Kao Yao Yai and Kao Yao Noi islands en route. Krabi is most famous for Ao Nang Beach among tourists, with yachters frequently mooring off delectable Rai Leh and Ton Sai beaches for their rock climbing.
Other popular escapes in the region include the stunning Phi Phi islands – home to Phi Phi’s Don and Leh – and Koh Lanta and Koh Jum. There are loads of other beautiful islands to motor to and of course it is possible to moor off the main beaches of Phuket – favourites include Patong, Karon and Kata.
Koh Samui is another of Thailand’s top yacht charter destinations, with several established charter companies that rent out luxury and modest vessels. Snorkelling and diving are often the main draws for visitors to Samui, with many beautiful islands in the region, including Koh Tao and the spectacular Ang Thong National Marine Park.
Lying between Samui and Koh Tao is the backpacker haven of Koh Pha Ngan, with beaches and mooring spots right around the mountains island. Some of the eastern and northern beaches are virtually inaccessible from land, making those areas in particular very attractive to yachters.
Pattaya is Thailand’s playground and is bustling year round, and yet just a few kilometres offshore is the picture of tranquillity in uninhabited islands amid crystal clear waters. Koh Larn is easy to get to and nearest to Pattaya, with sleepy Koh Sichang off to the north, and Koh Rin as a favourite dive centre to the south.
The staff aboard the yacht are English speaking and can’t do enough for you to ensure a great experience.
Food and beverages can be ordered to suit your needs from the traditional Thai dishes to western dishes. Chef is getting all kind of fresh food and seafood from local market.
