Siam Country Club Plantation

0_main pictureThe excellent layout and facilities of the Siam Country Club Plantation make it one of the best golfing experiences in Pattaya. It doesn’t come cheap, but visitors get a lot for their money as the club has played host to many major tournaments, such as the 2015 Thailand Open.

The newer of the Siam Country Club range was opened in 2009 (designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley) and features 27 holes, playable as three separate nines. The 18-hole layout is one of the longest in the region and comes with striking views out towards Pattaya Beach. This area used to be a pineapple plantation and the landscape is rolling and dynamic, now sporting paspalum fairways rather than fruit.

The courses are labelled as Tapioca and Pineapple (with a triple green) and Sugar Cane. Each nine offers a different drive and interesting combination for players who would like mixing it up. There are decent practise areas at the Plantation, too, including a driving range, pitching greens and even a bunker. Carts are a necessity as it is hilly out here.

The modern clubhouse has excellent locker facilities and a fine setting over the triple green area. The lounge area is beautiful and diners can eat indoors or outdoors. Drive time from Pattaya is 30 minutes, or around 90 minutes from the airport.
