Gassan Khuntan Golf and Resort
Laid out along the border of ancient Lamphun and Chiang Mai provinces is the well-priced Gassan Khuntan Golf and Resort. It is nestled within the beauty of neighbouring Doi Khuntan National Park just an hour from Chiang Mai and is one of Northern Thailand’s most challenging courses, with numerous water features and tricky fairways.
Designed by popular local golf course architect Pravit Reang-Po and established in 2004, the 18-hole par-72 (7,068-yard) Gassan Valley was voted the ‘Best Golf Course in Thailand, 2015’ by Chinese tourists. Signified by water, specifically the Mae Tha River which runs right through the course, it is also one of mountains, lakes, ponds and island greens. All holes are a challenge and the sheer beauty is almost a hindrance.
Gassan Valley is as much about golf as a getaway place, with fine accommodation and family facilities. There are dozens of rooms and suites and the resort affords expansive course and river views. Also on site are restaurants with choice foods, a golf academy and school, driving range, massage facilities, a pool and tennis courts.
Gassan Khuntan Golf and Resort is on the edge of the dreamy Doi Khuntan National Park, which it has easy direct access to. A wide range of activities can be enjoyed by all at the national park, not least the excellent hiking and mountain biking potential.
